2026 First Generation Conference
Description
The First Generation Conference is designed to help high school students who are the first in their families to consider college navigate the many emotions that come with planning for the future. Through interactive experiences, meaningful conversations, and connections with current UVU students and staff, participants will explore opportunities in higher education while building confidence, curiosity, and a sense of belonging. Students will gain practical tools to help them move forward with courage as they take the next step toward college.

The theme of this year's conference is "Turning College Inside Out".
- Who should attend the conference?
The conference is targeted for high school juniors and seniors who are first-generation college students. However, all high school students may attend. Educators, counselors, and parents who support first-generation students are also welcome to attend.
- What is a first-generation student?
A first-generation student is someone who will be the first in their immediate family to attend college. This means that neither of the student’s parents or guardians has completed a four-year college degree.
- Is there a cost to attend?
No, the conference is free for all attendees! Meals, materials, and access to all sessions are included. Participants are required to provide their own transportation.
- What can I expect from the conference program?
The conference will feature a resource fair, breakout sessions, and interactive workshops focused on college preparation, financial aid, and personal development. Students will be able to meet Willy the Wolverine and win prizes.
- What should I bring to the conference?
While all materials will be provided, you might want to bring a notepad and pen to take notes. Comfortable clothing and shoes are also recommended.
